Overall Thoughts:
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted?
The number of fics is blowing my mind it feels like I haven’t written much at all but apparently I’m matching last years numbers pretty well.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
I wrote for Ateez which I definitely didn’t expect to do this year. And JJP! They finally baited me just enough to get me to put out very niche fics that only I appreciate but hey that’s life!!
What’s your own favourite story of the year?
For my fics, it’s hands down Some Time (No Matter Where). Junfest took on a life of her own and became my absolute shining gem. I’m really proud of how this one turned out.
I’m sorry everyone but Crimson Spiral and Voyages took it for me this year I love all my friends so much and everyone put out hit after hit but these two just!!!!!
Did you take any writing risks this year?
I wrote het crimes and was sure my sub count was going to plummet after but no one read it so it’s fine! Aside from that, I wrote a few Seventeen pairings that are on the rare side and I loved the way those fics turned out. (I’d say Jukebox was a risk, and it was, but I think everything was well on the line of Implication. Don’t worry, after I turn 30 I’ll just be Chengxianist on main)
Do you have any fanfic goals for the new year?
2021 I’d like to finally finish the WIPs I’ve had for months now. Honggu especially. FINALLY GET INTO WHITE NOISE AGAIN GOD REMEMBER HOW I HAVE A WHOLE VAMPIRE SERIES?!

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
L. radiata because Carats are cowards?! I don’t understand how Ayesha and I have poured so much into the Tokyo Ghoul verse and this fic is barely over 500 hits.
Most fun story to write:
Palo Santo aka The Darkness In Me. A blast from start to finish. Everything I wanted it to be written specifically FOR me.
Story with the single sexiest moment:
Oh this is a tie between Starts with a Spark for literally every Jihan interaction or Play Your Games My Way because Seungcheol [redacted] is just!!!!!
Most “holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story:
Can we just say the lwj/jc hate sex in Not With My Heart? I wanna talk about it so yeah let’s go with that. I know it’s honestly pretty tame, and part of me wants to say the sex magic in Palo Santo but like...that’s just my brand.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Mountain/Star. I think as I wrote it I was able to see more of who San and Seonghwa are as well as who I wanted them to be in the story.
Hardest story to write:
Some Time (No Matter Where) because as much as I love this fic it WAS a labor of love. God the days I spent banging my head on the keyboard!!! It was worth it though.
Biggest disappointment:
I’m going with Disappointment in terms of like, numbers. Stag/Quiver getting paid absolute dust still has me like woman with numbers in front of her face meme. I’m Right?!?!?!
Biggest surprise:
Doing THREE collab series this year?! I never imagined writing in a collaborative universe and now i’m doing it with Hyb, Ayesha and Riley.
Most unintentionally telling story:
I think maybe Save Your Love. Underneath the omegaverse I’m just a soppy romantic at heart!
Favourite Opening Lines:
“Forehead laceration. Room Six,” Junhui says. He’s got this too pleased expression on his face that immediately tells Jihoon everything he needs to know about what’s waiting for him on the other side of the curtain. He takes the chart from Junhui’s hand.
“It’s a pity he’s my patient,” Junhui sighs, “He’s really hot. Single too. It’s on his chart.”
And there it is.
Jihoon glances up and narrows his eyes.
“It’s amazing you haven’t had a single patient complaint. This is an emergency room , Junhui.”

Favourite Closing Lines:
When they decide to get married Wei Wuxian sends an invitation to Lotus Pier. He does not expect an answer. Sometimes he lies awake next to Lan Zhan and he wonders if Jiang Cheng ever wanted to make a life with the Twin Jade, if there is more to the pain gnawing away at his sworn brother than he has even realized.
The day before the ceremony, there is a gift waiting for them. It is a matching set of forehead ribbons, not Lan blue but Jiang purple. The note inside the box is short, a single phrase, but Wei Wuxian’s eyes fill with tears all the same.
May the two of you find happiness.
Some day, Wei Wuxian will show him just how happy a person can be.

Favourite lines from anywhere:
Homesickness eats away at Joshua until he is curled in on himself against the bright green wall of their practice room, head buried in his knees, soft hiccuping sobs because he thinks he’s alone and no one will hear him. Jeonghan sits next to him and wraps an arm around his shoulders. He bumps their shoulders together and just stays there. Joshua can cry or he can talk about it, whatever he wants. Jeonghan is familiar with the feeling, but he knows an hour bus ride hardly compares to leaving your entire life half-way around the world.
“It’s you and me”, he whispers like a prayer in Joshua’s ear. “Just hold on a little longer.”
What he doesn’t say is, if you need a home I will make you one. This he holds like a prayer in his heart. He has never felt like this before.

Fic-writing goals for 2021:
WELL UHHHH CONSIDERED I DOUBLED MY SUBSCRIBER GOAL FROM LAST YEAR I REALLY DON’T KNOW!!! Seriously I think getting back to White Noise and writing a chaptered fic is a big goal for me. Feeling comfortable writing past tense again. I think that’s really all? I want to keep writing the things I want to read <3 Do you all think I could hit 300 subs? I don’t want to be too ambitious T_T
