2019: Fic Year in Review
Dec. 14th, 2019 07:09 pm2019: Fic Year in Review
The Stats:
Total Word Count: 243,641
Total Fics Written: 22
Fandoms Written In: 3 (Seventeen, NCT, Pentagon)
Overall Thoughts:
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted?
I definitely wrote more than I thought I would this year! Almost 250k!! I don't know how to shut up!!!
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
I wrote not one, but three Omegaverse fics. If you didn't know, there are some words that really gross me out and a lot of those words come up in A/B/O. I'm so proud of myself because I really enjoyed writing them!!!
What’s your own favourite story of the year?
If we're talking my own writing, probably All You Think of is Me.
I really can't pick between the great fics I've read this year ;~; All my friends are so talented it's unreal!!!
Did you take any writing risks this year?
I wrote some darker themed content this year, including character death, unhealthy coping mechanisms, etc and I was really worried that people would be upset?? But actually the reception was pretty great!!
Do you have any fanfic goals for the new year?
I want to write more oneshots, I want to be able to write faster, and I really REALLY want to finish White Noise 3 ;~; I miss my characters so much!!!
From my past year of writing, what was…
My best story of this year:
I really, truly think that All You Think of is Me is the best thing I've written this year.
My most popular story of this year:
Based on hits, He's Somewhere Between.
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Sweet As (Cherry Wine)!! I poured a LOT into this fic and not a lot of people have read it because let's be real here Pentagon is a small fic fandom, and Honggu isn't really the Number One Ship
Most fun story to write:
And the Chorus Swells, fun because I didn't want it to be anything more than what it is, just a fun little Halloween jam session!! Long fics are fun too don't get me wrong but sometimes it's nice to just...rock out a quick little fic.
Story with the single sexiest moment:
Sweetest Thing (Cherry Lips). Mingyu's cherry omega slick, whoosh am i right?
Most “holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story:
Heaven Knows. The vampire threesome sloppy seconds excessive amount of biting was really....A Lot
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
All You Think of is Me. I think that as the story progressed everyone kind of needed a moment to tell their side of the story, and that really changed the way I saw the events play out.
Hardest story to write:
Say Anything because I don't really Seoksoon? I wrote this for Andrea's birthday. Seoksoon being her favorite ship and also phone sex was the only thing I could think of for the pairing which is....not the best to write either. It was hard to write but she loved it so it's still a win!!
Biggest disappointment:
I don't really like....post things if I'm not satisfied with them?? I also try very, very hard not to pay attention to stats. I try to write what I want and post what I want and if other people like it then that's just a perk, really!!
Biggest surprise:
You Make Me Feel (How You're Looking At Me) if only because I didn't think I'd write a Meanie. I want to write a better one, eventually.
Most unintentionally telling story:
It's Hard to Say. So much of Minghao's grief is a dramatization of my own. It was both cathartic and like...Mortifying Ordeal to post but I'm very proud of how it turned out.
Favourite Opening Lines:
Wonwoo had never been a big fan of public transportation. The last time he’d willingly gotten on a train was when he moved away from home to start university. He’d spent the five hour journey with his head buried in his knees to ease his constant nausea, music blasting to drown out the noise of the other passengers. He hadn’t really planned to ever go back home so enduring one train ride seemed worth it at the time, and once he was settled in the city he drove everywhere. It was the only way he could get around without being sick.
It kind of surprised him, how easily he’d agreed to get on a train again to visit a city he’d never been to. It was like a compulsion, a magnet pulling him toward something inevitable. Like closure. Or maybe something else.

Favourite Closing Lines:
Minghao frowned. They were stopped at a red light and Junhui was bathed in red, like bright blood coating his skin.
“What gives vampires nightmares?” he asked.
Junhui was quiet for a long time. They were almost home when he answered.
“What indeed.”
(A White Noise snippet~~)
Favourite lines from anywhere:
This isn't what the question wants from me, but "You look like someone I would fuck" remains That Line
Fic-writing goals for 2020:
I don't really have like...official goals I guess?? I'd like to hit 100 subs ;~;
